Dayou Book Collection Cave: Huaihua's new, quaint mountain resort

On the morning of October 7, a large gathering of citizens arrived at the Dayou Book Collection Cave, a scenic attraction of Chenxi County, Huaihua, enjoying the tranquility of book fragrance and warm sunshine.

Quite a few tourists were fore-gathering around the cave on the day. Visitors arriving via the mountain pathway either paused at the cave entrance, carefully examining the traces of ancient book storage and illustrated introductions as well on the stone walls, or gathered around historical information panels, listening to companions sharing stories about this place. "Earlier I came across an introduction online and learned it was where ancient scholars stored their books," said Ms. Gong, a tourist from Hecheng District. Helping her family take family photos, she smiled and added. "Today I brought my elderly parents and children here particularly. We can enjoy a walk in the sunshine while the children learn about history—much better than squeezing through packed scenic spots." She remarked, "The cave looks even more quaint and timeless in the sunlight through my camera lens."

According to on-site staff, family tourists and culture enthusiasts made up the lion’s share during the National Day holiday. To help people better appreciate the cultural significance of the cave, the staff had also prepared relevant historical stories, enabling visitors to gain a deeper understanding of its cultural value.

As the noon approached, the sunlight grew even brighter, bringing in a steady stream of visitors. Some were engaged in quiet conversations on the stone steps at the cave entrance, while others were taking strolls along the surrounding trails to enjoy the scenery. This historic cave, imbued with its unique cultural legacy, has become a sought-after destination where residents can get closer to the history for relaxation and unwinding during the holidays.
