The meeting designed to seize opportunities of pair-up assistance and improve education and medical standards

On the morning of July 9, the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and the Huaihua Municipal Government held a symposium with Changsha's assistance team for Huaihua's education and medical work. Xu Zhongjian, secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on education and health work, resolutely implement the arrangements and requirements of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Hunan Provincial Government, thus seizing the opportunities of paired assistance, and improving the level of education and medical care. Those who were present at the meeting included He Zunqing, deputy secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Huaihua Municipal Political and Legal Affairs Commission, 12 representatives of the education assistance team, and 19 representatives of the medical assistance team.

Representatives from the Huaihua Municipal Bureau of Education and the Huaihua Municipal Health Commission respectively reported on how the Changsha's assistance team improved the quality of Huaihua's basic education. They also extolled how the Xiangya Hospital of the Central South University provided assistance to the General Hospital of Hunan University of Medicine.

Several attendees introduced the specific conditions of the assistance work, shared gains and experiences, and put forward opinion and suggestions while delivering their speeches. Some came from the education assistance team, including Dong Jiakang, Long Jianluo, Jiang Donghai, Zhang Yongfu, and Wang Qing, and others were with the medical assistance team, including Wang Aimin, Peng Milin, Dai Yuanqing, and Su Pan.

In response to the specific issues and suggestions, Xu interposed from time to time for communication and requested the relevant municipal departments to carefully study and implement them.

On behalf of the Huaihua Municipal Party Committee and the Huaihua Municipal Government, Xu conveyed sincere gratitude and high respect to the assistance team. In his words, the 45 members of the education and medical assistance teams have treated Huaihua as their hometown and taken Huaihua's affairs as their own since the launch of the pair-up assistance work last year. They have strove to overcome various difficulties, devoted themselves wholeheartedly to the assistance work, and done a great deal of effective work, contributing significantly to the promotion of  Huaihua's education and health undertakings.

It was hoped by Xu that the assistance team would impart advanced concepts and introduce cutting-edge ideas and advanced experiences such as the educational methods of prestigious schools and renowned teachers as well as the management systems of top-quality hospitals and prominent doctors. He also encouraged them to further leverage their technical advantages, act as "instructors" who impart knowledge and resolve doubts, and cultivate teams in their respective fields featuring high comprehensive quality, strong professional capabilities, and exceptional problem-solving skills. Additionally, he inspired them to promote resource sharing and facilitate deeper and higher-level collaborations between Changsha and Huaihua.

Xu emphasized that all relevant departments at all levels in the city would make joint efforts to reinforce the paired assistance work. They were required to promptly study and solve key and difficult issues, improve and implement systems such as regular heart-to-heart talks and visits to express solicitude. They are also required to provide for the needy people with work and living guarantees in a sincere and caring manner, thus creating a warm-hearted environment which emphasizes with the disadvantaged.

Other leaders in attendance were Peng Xiandan, Li Weilin, Xiang Rulian and Zhang Guoli.
