December 4th was the day when the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Coordination Meeting of the Huaihua Municipal Government was held. Yu Jianyong, Vice Mayor of the Huaihua Municipal Government was in attendance and delivered a speech.
The Huaihua Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau reported information on the air quality of Huaihua in 2004.
Since next year will be the final year of the air pollution control during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the current situation is of vital significance and thus serves as a “linkage” between the past and the future. Official departments at all levels across Huaihua should make joint efforts to unrelentingly defend the blue sky. And they will carry out these measures based on the local strengths and mobilize wisdom and resources of the general public, Yu pointed out.
According to Yu, it is important to stay committed to the political stance of the CPC, and study and adhere to the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and the speeches made by Shen Xiaoming, Secretary of the CPC Huan Provincial Committee and those at the Symposium on the Special Research on Air Pollution Prevention and Control which were addressed by Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Governor of Hunan Province. It is important to strengthen the sense of responsibility and urgency for winning the blue-sky battle by conducting concrete measures. It is important to uphold a firm belief by making preparations against heavily polluted weather in advance. In particular, priorities must be handled with great care and pinpoint accuracy. Chief among these include bans on fireworks and firecrackers, regulations on the burning of garbage and straws, road cleaning and sanitation, preventing and controlling flying dust, curbing the pollution from mobile sources, and coping with the fumes from catering businesses. It is important to take an initiative in carrying out these measures mentioned above. It is also equally important to align with the set goals, shoulder our responsibilities squarely and address the fundamental roots of problems exactly. All this means that we will spare no efforts to increase the number of blue-sky days as many as possible and ensure the stability of air quality, thereby meeting the goals originally expected at the end of the year.
