Recently, Hengyang has been selected as the venue for the 2024 Hunan Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season Event titled "Tides Rising in Xiaoxiang, Meeting in Hunan". During the launching ceremony, a list of provincial nighttime cultural and tourism consumption clusters was announced. Chief among the list includes the Heping Lake Water and Land Light Night Scenic Spot of Zhijiang County and the Shuangjiang Riverside Nighttime Consumption Cluster of Tongdao County, both of which were under the jurisdiction of Huaihua Municipal Government.

With thousands of years of history and its local peaceful culture as its core, the scenic spot features the ethnic culture and uses the water tourist route as a base point. It inherits the thousand-year-old Dong ethnic culture and optimizes the water and land sites, thereby transforming the Zhijiang section of the Wushui River into a unique and irreplaceable water tourism destination. The first-phase of the project is about 3 kilometers long, and tourists can enjoy a 40-minute boating trip. The route passes through 11 scenic spots such as the Longjin Fengyu Bridge (a must-see sight in Zhijiang), the continuous covered corridors of Fengyu, the Heping Bridge, and the Tianhou Palace. The ancient buildings on both sides of the Wushui River serve as projection curtain walls. With the combination of "digital technology" and "night tour", it is divided into six sections, vividly presenting the unique features and advantages of Zhijiang's long history and rich Dong ethnic charm as well as creating a beautiful picture of "the city in the water, the water in the city, and the harmony between people and water".

The County of Tongdao has been built along the banks of the Shuangjiang River which got its name from the confluence of the Pingtang River and the Malong River. The cluster area is home to a great diversity of cultural and tourism business forms, integrating an intangible cultural heritage marked with Dong brocade weaving, Dong ethnic clothing, and Dong ethnic cuisine. Taking a leisurely strolling along the river, one is sure to feel the pulsation of the Dong ethnic culture by listening to the melodious and reverberating tunes of Dong songs and admiring the lively steps of Dong dancers who are chasing the light.
