Recently, at Mayang Blue Phoenix Fruit Processing Factory, batches of freshly picked peppers, pumpkins, loofah and other vegetables are being packed into boxes. The next day, these vegetables will appear on the stands of major fresh food supermarkets and open produce fair in Hong Kong.
Huaihua is rich in agricultural resources, with excellent quality and various categories. At present, home to a stable vegetable planting area of more than 100,000 mu (16, 473.6 acres), Mayang has been awarded titles such as “Longevity Township in the World”, “Key Vegetable Production County in China” and “Green Food Production Base in China”. Thanks to good natural conditions and effective planting methods, the vegetables here are very popular among consumers, with vegetable exports showing rapid growth. According to customs statistics, in the first seven months of this year, vegetable exports in Huaihua reached CNY 930 million, an increase of 7.8 times year-on-year, ranking second in vegetable export in Hunan Province.
“Under the guidance of Huaihua Customs, we have adopted a ‘daily supervision + sampling testing + source management’ model to strengthen the monitoring of vegetables supplied to Hong Kong, prevent the risk of excessive pesticide residues and heavy metals, and ensure the quality and safety of vegetables supplied to Hong Kong. Currently, there are more than 10 varieties of vegetables directly supplied to Hong Kong.” Lei Huaying, general manager of Mayang Blue Phoenix Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., told reporters that after the ‘fruit and vegetable assembly + centralized declaration’ model was explored successfully in June this year, the space utilization rate of cold chain logistics vehicles has increased significantly, and the transportation efficiency can be increased by 30%. It is expected that vegetables worth nearly CNY 1 billion can be exported throughout the year.
Li Chun, deputy commissioner of Huaihua Customs, said that there are currently 7 vegetable planting bases and vegetable production and processing enterprises providing Hong Kong and Macao with choice vegetables in our city. In order to implement the important plan made at the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on “improving the support system for bolstering agriculture, benefiting farmers and enriching farmers”, Huaihua Customs is sparing no efforts to carry out the activity of “Customs Commissioner Explaining Policies to farmers” activity, to establish a green channel for exporting agricultural produce, and to adopt measures to guide the filing for export, the testing without charge, and facilitation for export”, helping to promote agricultural produce with Huaihua characteristics to go abroad.
