On June 9th, during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, Professor Huang Ke, the chief expert of vegetable industry technology system of Hunan Province, and Professor Wu Qiuyun, an expert of edible mushroom, accompanied by She Lishan, the director of the Xiangxi Experimental Station (Huaihua Agricultural Science Research Institute), and related staff, had technical services in Huaihua.

The expert team successively provided technical guidance to the Shankugua Planting Base of Hunan Xinyou'ai Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., the Chaotian Pepper Planting Base of Rongxuan Agricultural Comprehensive Development Co., Ltd. in Huitong County, and the Edible Mushroom Planting Base of Huitong County by demonstrating the scientific ways of pest prevention and control for balsam pear and the efficient cultivation technology for open field grown pepper.

Professor Huang pointed out that currently it is the time to sell the first batch of balsam pear on the market, so attention must be paid to its disease and pest control. Due to the special nature of balsam pear, strict physical and biological control must be carried out to ensure the high quality of its processed products. In addition, due to heavy rainfall this year, it is necessary to do a good job in drainage when cultivating chili peppers in the open field and to prevent the widespread  diseases and pests.

The experts’ technological guidance has greatly benefited farmers and vegetable growers. It is believed that with the guidance of experts, the Xiangxi Experimental Station will have better development and can better serve the Xiangxi region.
